Getting A Facelift Without Surgery

When it comes to skin rejuvenation and cosmetic surgery trends, the new trend is getting the same results as surgery without actually having to do surgery. With facelifts, these trends are called non-invasive facelifts or are even claiming to guarantee a facelift without surgery.

But can these procedures guarantee the same results as cosmetic surgery?

In the field of plastic surgery, the medical term for a facelift is rhytidectomy and has been around for years, both in reality and in fiction, as an effective way to transform your face into a more youthful appearance. What facelifts without surgery guarantees is that your skin will return to a smoother appearance by tightening the skin and removing wrinkles. This is not a “Face/Off” procedure where you just through on a strange mask and voila! You look different. The mythical nature of facelifts popularized by television and movies can lead to unattainable expectations with non-invasive facelifts.

Facelifts without surgery will not change your appearance, nose size, the shape of your eyes, or have you looking like Paris Hilton or Heidi Montague. What it will do is fix stubborn wrinkles and the fine lines that develop from aging. What it will also do is help avoid the complications that can come from going under the knife which are a well-known part of plastic surgery.

These procedures fall into two categories:

Non-invasive Facelifts

These types of facelifts usually involve lasers as the outer layer of the skin goes through a resurfacing which allows for the removal of facial lines and wrinkles. This procedure does not involve any cutting or scarring, but can leave some discoloration and swelling which is temporary and clears in a few weeks.

Facelift Without Surgery

This term is used for a wide variety of techniques that range from using electric currents, thermal heat, pulsed light, and skin-tightening creams.  The first one, the microcurrent face lift uses gentle electric currents that are applied directly to the face to stimulate exfoliation and restore natural skin elasticity and tone. Thermal heat and pulse light techniques uses heat and light spectrums to stimulate natural collagen growth and allows for the skin’s natural rejuvenation to be kick-started. Skin-tightening creams have become popular and more effective than in the past, but you still need to read the labels and do your homework on these creams.

The truth is if you want to look younger and remove the telling signs of age, there is no need to undergo plastic surgery to achieve these simple needs. Find a local skin rejuvenation spa and ask for a free consultation to find out what procedures and techniques are right for your precious skin.
